Maswazi Kunene

A seasoned Telecommunications professional Maswazi holds a bachelors degree from Rhodes University. With more than two decades in the industry he has worked for global companies such as Nortel (Formerly Northern Telecom) and GEC Marconi. In South Africa Maswazi has honed his skills with  SAAB Grintek in their Sales and Account Management division and also with Cisco Systems and later, with Dimension Data. In ( 2…..) he left the corporate world and became an Entrepreneur in partnership with his late brother Siyanda Kunene. Their focus was on the technology sector and services aimed at Online Education and SMME Development.  Kunene Brothers business environment, Maswazi’s interests and expertise remain largely in the B2B (Business to Business) technological landscape.’ Maswazi is a non executive director of Nokia.

Ntokozo Fuzunina Kunene

Ntokozo is a production designer, costume designer and fashion designer. She is the founder and Creative Director of mabu49. Having completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Wits university she went on to do a Fashion Diploma at Instistuto Marangoni in the UK. She established herself in the fashion industry by as one of the finalists in the Elle New Talent Award (South Africa). She also worked Fashion and Lifestyle Assistant for and also Media in South Africa and later for ARISE Magazine in the UK. As Creative Director of Mabu49 she has had showcases at SA fashion week and Vancouver Fashion week. To further build on her design skills Ntokozo completing an MFA - Design for Stage and Film at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. This has led her to work in Costume design in productions such as Master Harold and the Boys and The winters tale in the US. She has also worked as a Costume Designer in various films and Commercials with directors such as Spike Lee. She was also the assistant production designer and researcher on the movie The woman king.Ntokozo has received numerous accolades for her work such as 2017 Mail & Gaurdian 200 Young South Africans and 2018 AUDELCO Award Nomination (Costume Design): The Homecoming Queen to name a few. Apart from working in theatre and film she has also held teaching positions from 2017 to 2020  in Costume and Scenic design at Colgate University,Hamilton College and Fordham University.

Busi Dube

A change and organisational specialist Busi is a seasoned professional with more than 20 years experience. Her consulting career has provided in-depth experience in various industries and geographies  including Financial Services, Consumer Goods, Mining, Oil & Gas, Outsourcing and Telecommunications amongst others. An accomplished leader and skilled strategist she is experienced at relationship building and business coaching.Since 2015, Busi has been serving as a Non -Executive Director at Hensoldt GEW Technologies where she is the Chairperson of the Personnel / Remuneration and Social and Ethics Committees. In keeping with the Kunene family ethos Busi also devotes her time volunteering in numerous charities. She serves as the Chairperson of the Winnie and Fortune Kunene Trust. She is also a resident facilitator for the Youth Leadership & Entrepreneurship Development (YLED) an NPO dedicated to imparting young people with life, mindset and entrepreneurship skills.Busi, has a Bachelor Of Arts (Hons) from Wits University, Postgraduate Diploma In Business ( PDM) from the Wits Business School and an Executive Master in Change from INSEAD  Business School in France.

Phakamile Nhlumayo

Phakamile is a Senior specialist in the  commercial vehicle space. His experience ranges from sales to management skills. A dynamic individual with electric energy and extraordinary enthusiasm he has been in the motoring sector for almost two decades. With qualifications from MERSETA he is well versed with all things motoring. This includes being a motoring editor of  Mfenandela Magazine. Prior to joining Avis he was a valued member of the McCArthy Kunene team.

Nhlanhla Chocho

Nhlanhla is the Chairperson of Kunene Bros Holdings. She is a qualified lawyer by profession. After serving articles she worked as commercial lawyer at Werksman’s Attorneys. She left legal practice to go into financial services. Over the years she gained mergers and acquisitions experience in various roles working for  Standard Bank Group and Gensec Bank dealing with private sector clients in various sectors. She also has experience in dealing with public sector clients during her time at the Industrial Development Corporation dealing with public sector funding projects. Nhlanhla left the corporate world to co-founded an investment company Akenton Investments with partners, which had  investments in the services sector, motoring industry as well print and media industries. Nhlanhla has a wealth of insights from three decades in the financial services and investment space all which have been proved valuable when joining the family business. Nhlanhla joined Kunene Bros first as Managing Director of Kunene Capital and now as Chairperson of the Group. Over the years she has served on several boards which include SAAB Grintek, Tellabs South Africa, Smartec Technologies, Alcatel Lucent South Africa and Nokia South Africa.

Nhlanganiso Kunene

Nhlanganiso is an investment banker with wide ranging experience from debt capital markets to credit analysis and securitisations. He started his banking career as a graduate trainee in Nedbank Wealth and soon moved to Nedbank CIB  first as a quantitative analyst and later as an associate principal managing a portfolio of clients. His decade long  career in banking has made him an experienced stakeholder and relationship manager and he has dealt with both public  sector with clients such as Nation Treasury as well established private sector clients. With a BSc from Wits Nhlanganiso is also a a qualified CFA. Nhlanganiso is a director of Kunene Beverages (Pty) Ltd.

Muzikayise Kunene

Forever an entrepreneur Muzi is Chairman and founder of the Yise Group which includes Yise Wealth, an investment company as well Yise Properties. His interest and skill in the  property sector was developed during his years at Sotheby’s Lew Geffen Commercial where he was one of the directors heading their Pretoria branch.The Yise Group was established in 2003 as Yise Risk Managemet, a consultancy firm that provided comprehensive financial solutions to affluent individuals and companies. A keen equestrian in his spare time, he is also a patron of Soweto Equestrian Club which he helps fund through the Yise Foundation.The club focuses on grooming youngg equestrians in different equine disciplines.
